Burberry Spring 2011

Christopher Bailey never ceases to impress me as the creative mind behind Burberry Prorsum- The 2011 Spring/Summer line is proof. Season after season, the Prorsum line breaks the threshold of ingenuity while still representing the iconic trench coat that made Burberry what it is today. In comparison to other fashion houses, Mr. Bailey took a somewhat heavier approach to the typical Spring season by featuring a significant amount of outerwear. Embellished with studs, straps, and zippers, the predominantly leather outerwear collection provided a military twist on the classics; peacoats, motorcycle jackets, and of course- trenchcoats. The collection is reminiscent of traditional army garb, but seemed to be tinged with a taste of modern style; tapered legs, fitted shirts, and statement-making hardware. Although the shades of olive, camel, taupe, and beige may seem dark for the season, they provide a somewhat simple transition from the Fall 2010 Prorsum line into Spring 2010.

Kudos for making me lust over leatherwear once again Mr. Bailey…
